While it certainly didn’t reignite my childhood passion for this property, it is a reasonably enjoyable watch.

This is a darkly funny, blood-soaked, absurd piece of body horror, where the danger lies in what we will do for acceptance.

Mostly, this feels like cheap thrills with little to say about the terror.

What keeps this moving along are its central performances and strange sense of humor, though it's still not enough to hit that next level.

It definitely isn’t boring, though it isn’t exactly coherent, either.

The two main performances are good, however, the script undermines them with one twist too many and a conclusion that falls flat.

a fascinating psychological thriller; the type that could only be made by a first-time director who doesn’t care about genre rules.

While ambition can be welcome, sometimes going back to the classics feels oddly fresh. That is definitely the case here.

It is an unpredictable experience and one of the best horror movies so far this year.
